Job Description:
In order to support the Air Generation team, Airbus Operations is looking for a
Master Thesis student for the "Simulation of the Fuel Cell Air Supply System for the Airbus ZEROe Propulsion System”
You are looking for a master thesis in area of hydogen powered aircraft? Then apply now! We look forward to you supporting us in the Air Generation team as a master student!
Hydrogen has the potential to play a crucial role in decarbonising aviation in the long term, and to bring a revolution in air transport comparable to that of electric vehicles in the automotive sector. To that aim, Airbus’ ambition is to bring a hydrogen-powered commercial aircraft to market. The ZEROe project was launched in 2020 to explore the feasibility of hydrogen propulsion technologies. In April 2025, Airbus announced that the hydrogen fuel cell technology had been selected as the propulsion method for this future aircraft. Fuel cells rely on several supporting subsystems to operate effectively. One key subsystem is the air supply system, which includes compressors, heat exchangers, and other components. The main challenge lies in designing this system to achieve high efficiency, minimal volume, and low weight, all while ensuring safety under all operating conditions.
