Master Thesis student in AI aided Systems Engineering (d/f/m)

Start: March 2026 (or earlier)
Duration: 6 months
The primary objectives of this thesis are to develop a theoretical framework and a multi-agent workflow for refactoring textual systems engineering specifications. This involves defining specialized agent roles, implementing a prototype using Python and NLP techniques, and demonstrating the system's ability to enhance requirement clarity, ensure traceability, derive functional breakdowns, and reorganize specifications accordingly.

Your tasks and responsibilities

The thesis tasks include conducting a comprehensive literature review on AI-assisted requirements engineering, refactoring, and multi-agent systems.

Additionally, the tasks involve defining a conceptual framework and methodological approach, designing an agent-based architecture for requirement analysis and restructuring, implementing a prototype workflow using Python with Open Web UI as front end, validating the approach on realistic textual specifications, and documenting the results in a Master thesis report with recommendations for future research

The deliverables for this thesis include a written Master thesis in English, a prototype implementation demonstrating the feasibility of the workflow, supporting material such as diagrams, workflows, and test cases, documentation of the results, and recommendations for future research
Desired skills and qualifications

Master student in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, AI, or a related field (d/f/m)

Strong interest in requirements engineering and model-based systems engineering (MBSE).

Knowledge in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs), familiarity with multi-agent systems or a willingness to learn, skills in Python

Ability to work independently, think critically, and structure academic research

Fluent in English and good German skills.
