  • What do you think your time with this company has brought you in terms of your future as a professional and as a person?
    Lauren Hagan

    It has been an incredible experience and probably nowhere else will I feel more comfortable than at Holi Me. It has been very rewarding for me since it was my first time as an intern in a company and I have felt very useful. Thanks to this experience I have shown myself that if someone trusts me, I can work perfectly independently and achieve the results I want. On the other hand, due to direct contact with suppliers, I have learned first-hand what negotiating is all about and the skills it involves. With regard to my future career, it has served me to know that I want to continue gaining experience in this field, because I think I have found my place in the trade industry and I feel very inspired and motivated by the experience I have just had at Holi Natural. Now that I know what I like and want to work with, my only request is that I be able to hold such a position within the Holi me team.

  • In which department are you doing your internship?

    In international negotiation, in direct contact with Asia.

  • Why would you say that it was worth investing your time in this company?
    Lauren Hagan

    Because it has been great both professionally and personally. My time at the Factory has made me rediscover myself and become a new and improved version of myself. At first I wasn't sure if I had made the right choice because it took me a little while to adapt to the pace of work and to understand everything that was being asked of me 100%, but luckily I received a lot of help from the team. Besides, they always showed a lot of understanding for me. You can see that they have had interns before as my colleagues respected my adaptation period and the level of demand gradually increased as I felt more comfortable in my workspace and with my tasks. Now that I've spent a few months here, I've realised that I've been very fortunate, not only to have such a competent and mature team, but also to have had the Factory as my workspace, as I've met a lot of people from within the sector who will be maybe helpful for my professional future.

  • Did you have any kind of supervision during your internship?
    Lauren Hagan

    There was more than one person I could turn to, so even if one of them was occasionally missing, I was never alone with anything. Also, when I had suggestions for optimizing something, I was always listened to as if I were any other worker and on several occasions they were even carried out definitively.

  • What is needed to successfully meet the challenge of the internship?
    Lauren Hagan

    I think you have to be motivated and like what you do. I was fortunate enough to feel comfortable in my job from the very beginning, but I think that if I had not, they would have had no problem having a conversation with me about it and trying to find a solution that would be rewarding to both sides. On the other hand, the more you master both written and spoken languages, the more helpful you can be to the team. In addition, it should not be forgotten that punctuality and dedication are always valued, especially within German culture.

  • How did you find out that there was such a vacancy in the company?
    Lauren Hagan

    Some friends recommended me to use meinpraktikum.de and I decided to try it. I was trying different search criteria and happened to find the perfect job for me at Holi Me. They contacted me later via email to finish asking some details and try to arrange an appointment to make a call and find out about our mutual interests. A few weeks after we spoke on the phone and had a Skype interview, I was confirmed as the chosen candidate in the selection process for the new multilingual negotiation manager position. I still remember the moment!

  • What is the working atmosphere like?
    Lauren Hagan

    The truth is that it is a very lively atmosphere. This is a coworking space where there are several other companies, including freelancers. It helped me to feel more comfortable. In addition, there are people who occasionally get distracted playing ping-pong or even sometimes someone plays the guitar. Without a doubt, the Factory is the best workspace you can think of to feel comfortable, inspired and therefore also be more productive. Since I had never been doing an internship in a company before, I had in my head the idea that a work place had to necessarily consist of a large number of very busy people running from one side to the other in a tight tie suit and a company phone in their ear, but Holi Me has shown me that it doesn't have to be like that. Another working style and philosophy is possible. When I first arrived I was surprised that such a small team could perform so well, even better than any large corporation whose workers are uncoordinated and pursuing their own interests. But now I've realised that that's precisely where the key to their success lies, that they remain a small but highly synchronised team. What one does affects the other. It is precisely for this reason that they also spend so much time selecting qualified interns, because those who are chosen come directly to play a major role. Without a doubt, a challenge that prepares you for the world of work that awaits you out there.

  • Are there enough tasks to do as a practitioner?
    Lauren Hagan

    The truth is that yes, because you can always collaborate with all kinds of tasks. On the occasions when I finished my work early, I always found a partner who needed help, so I could see what he or she was doing too. An example of a task I could always do was to give the final review to the English content of my teammates, as I was from an English-speaking country, which was a great help to the team. I was afraid to feel that I was not contributing and to be frustrated, but in reality, it was the opposite! I felt very fulfilled and very good about myself!

  • Do you have a pre-determined workspace?
    Lauren Hagan

    We can sit wherever we want, which is very comfortable because depending on whether we are hot, or looking for more silence, or a particular seat, or to give us air... etc we can change our workplace and simply move without asking someone's permission. This is especially practical when you get tired of a particular body posture and therefore may prefer to relax your body. And whether you choose to be indoors or outdoors, WiFi is everywhere, so there's no problem. In short, that the Factory is great and that now that I'm leaving Holi Natural, I realize that such a stimulating working environment is very difficult to find again. I've certainly been a real privileged person.

  • What is so special about your work?
    Lauren Hagan

    My life has changed. I belong to a generation of young people who have come to a very saturated market and lost confidence in themselves and have simply learned to resign ourselves to the fact that we are going to play a transient and superficial role in companies serving coffee because companies take advantage of students who need to add experience to their curriculum and then have them busy all the time making photocopies or other simple tasks that don't teach them anything. However, Holi Natural has made me recover my faith in the fact that there are still workspaces where they are willing to integrate you into their team so that you can learn and that they are willing to invest their trust, time and dedication in you so that you can become a member and really create a beneficial relationship for both parties, what we know today as a win-win. First of all I want to emphasize that there is confidence to talk about everything, which was something I was looking for especially because many people had told me about very uncomfortable work environments where you hardly feel you can express yourself because of the coldness of the bosses' treatment. However, at Holi Me, you really feel that you are surrounded by people you have known for a long time, and therefore feel comfortable and relaxed. And secondly, as soon as you join the company as an intern you are already aware that you play an important role in the development of the company. Another very special fact about working for Holi Me at the Factory, the coworking space, is that in the same building there is a cafeteria where you can get some very tasty chips for little money and they have a brownie and cheesecake dessert to suck your fingers on. (laughs the interviewee). Obviously I'm joking, because as I said before, the real value of the Factory is that it introduces you to a world of professional connections that you can make the most of if you know how to move in it. It's like LinkedIn in real life!

  • Do you think the internship vacancy in this company fits everyone?
    Lauren Hagan

    The truth is, the internship isn't for everyone. If you don't like to work independently and self-sufficiently on some occasions, I don't think you are the right person to be the new intern. Another aspect to bear in mind is that in Holi Natural global thinking and cross-culturalism prevail, so if you are not an open-minded, respectful person who is willing to learn from other cultures, you probably do not fit in.

  • Would you recommend an internship in the same company to others?
    Lauren Hagan

    Of course. I have no doubt about it. Anyone who does not decide to try to be part of the Holi Me team misses a unique opportunity to enter the job market as a serious worker who is taken into consideration, rather than simply as a practitioner who leaves no trace. If you are a person who wants to work, feel useful and be able to apply all your knowledge to a team that is going to receive ideas with open arms, Holi Me is the best place to go. And if you're from another country, as was my case, the bosses can speak English too, so you don't feel excluded from the team at any time, if not quite the opposite, because sometimes even more time is spoken in English than in German during working hours.

  • Can you imagine yourself returning to this company in the future?
    Lauren Hagan

    Yes, yes and yes. I am looking forward to my career leaving me free time to return to Holi Me. Although I am now concentrating on my studies, I am willing to continue my training in the sector so that I can contribute even more to the Holi Me family. It is precisely what I have learned from them, that in a healthy work environment, it is about feeling motivated enough to want to give back as much as you can, because you also get a lot in return, sometimes even things you are not aware of until you leave, and then you value them more than ever. Their perseverance, dedication to their work and the quality of ther ideas, I doubt that I will be able of finding them in any other conventional workspace. This is definitely not a goodbye, it's a ‘see you later'.

  • What do you think your time with this company has brought you in terms of your future as a professional and as a person?
    Florian Nielsson

    It has certainly given me a lot. An incomparable experience in my life. On the one hand, having access to a very specific business model from within, such as the Amazon online market, which will undoubtedly play a key role in the future, has been very beneficial. On the other hand, the experience of being in a new work environment has also enriched me. This introduces you to new dynamics of teamwork, new procedures, new people and their corresponding philosophies of life, and therefore, without a doubt, makes you grow as a person. An experience like this has helped me to define what my priorities are in a workspace, to know in which direction I want to move forward in my future and to get to know myself better as a professional and as a person.

  • In which department are you doing your internship?
    Florian Nielsson

    In online marketing and e-commerce.

  • Why would you say that it was worth investing your time in this company?
    Florian Nielsson

    Because I consider that it has been a unique opportunity and that I have been very fortunate to be chosen as an intern. I believe that the fact that it is a great company in the middle of a growth phase and with a young and dynamic environment, allows you to play a key role in its development. This is a privilege because it allows you to apply your own knowledge to real business situations, act with a certain degree of independence and autonomy and see how your work has a direct impact on the company. You feel useful and valued. This has made me feel more confident about myself and the validity of my ideas. Another argument is that you spend all your time at the Factory: a perfect place to make contacts that can be useful in your professional future.

  • Did you have any kind of supervision during your internship?
    Florian Nielsson

    Whenever I had any doubts, either of the supervisors tried to interrupt their work to help me with my complications, because we were both aware that the only way to gain autonomy and become an efficient worker was to clear up the doubts from the beginning, which is precisely why I always got help when I needed it. Also, at first my supervisors would come up to me regularly to make sure everything was going well and correcting on the fly without having to wait for last-minute mistakes that would slow down the whole team. Even in the occasional absence of a supervisor, platforms like Skype call were used to allow me to move forward. In short, they always took care of me.

  • What is needed to successfully meet the challenge of the internship?
    Florian Nielsson

    Motivation is undoubtedly key, without it it does not work and is unproductive for both parties. Other qualities include commitment, discipline and punctuality, but also good humour, confidence and a positive attitude that infects the rest of the team (''If you know how to play good ping-pong it's a plus"). On the other hand, it should not be forgotten that a solid theoretical base is never too much, as it facilitates and accelerates the learning process and makes you be in tune with the rest of the team shortly after joining the team. This increases complicity when developing projects in groups and helps to optimise brainstorming sessions. Finally, languages cannot be left aside, as they are the central axis of communication in a team as international as Holi Natural. English is a must, German helps a lot and other languages are a highly valued addition due to the company's perspective of expanding horizons and trying to penetrate new markets.

  • How did you find out that there was such a vacancy in the company?
    Florian Nielsson

    We contacted each other through the online portal MeinPraktikum.de, which is undoubtedly the most effective I have tried so far. The truth is that I was a little tired of having to send my resume to a lot of portals and noticing that most of them were out of date and therefore I was wasting my time. However, so far I have been very satisfied with the result I have obtained with MeinPraktikum.de.

  • What is the working atmosphere like?
    Florian Nielsson

    Due to it being a coworking space, it is a place with a constant flow of people. This makes it not only less monotonous, but also means that you get to know people who inspire you. On the other hand, 'Holi Me' is based on a dynamic that allows you to work alone and meet your colleagues with flexibility. In addition, it is based on the philosophy that we are human and therefore cannot be concentrated for many hours at a time, which is why the co-working space has play areas such as a terrace, a table tennis table, a kitchen to serve tea, coffee... etc. Having been in many different equipment companies before, my experience at Holi Natural has taught me how valuable it is to be part of a small group. Basically, it's pure logic: you're more necessary, more important and therefore you're taken more into account. Just as your achievements contribute to the overall improvement, your mistakes also affect much more than in cases where your role within the company is limited to responding to complaints on social networks. Precisely for this reason, this place is perfect for all those who like challenges and the feeling of self-improvement, as circumstances force you to evolve and improve as a professional in an environment that leaves you room to grow and become more and more competent and prepared for the job market.

  • Are there enough tasks to do as a practitioner?
    Florian Nielsson

    That's right, at Holi Natural you don't get bored, because there are always different things to do. Just let one of your supervisors know and they will help you find a new task to do. Otherwise, you can always try to help your classmates. It is not like in other companies where you have the feeling of doing nothing and therefore feel useless. At Holi Natural you work and at the end of the day you feel very proud of what you have contributed to the company, because you know that you are part of a team that would lack something without you.

  • Do you have a default workspace?
    Florian Nielsson

    No, I choose it myself and I can change whenever I want. Here there is no concept that a worker needs to be at the same table for eight hours looking at the wall, but rather that the place is full of sofas, armchairs, benches, etc., so as to be able to offer the possibility of changing places and not being in the same place mentally exhausting... Every time I think about it, I already miss working at La Factory.

  • What is so special about your work?
    Florian Nielsson

    That the atmosphere is cheerful and relaxed, since the central pillar of the company is honesty and it is not intended to pursue a series of artificial guidelines that condition the way of working. By this I mean that there is no uniform, no dress code, no exaggerated protocols that hinder transparent communication between co-workers. On the other hand, and as I said before, you can get to know many interesting people for your professional future.

  • Do you think the internship vacancy in this company fits everyone?
    Florian Nielsson

    Not really, I don't think so. If, on the one hand, the tasks of responsibility are an unmanageable psychological stress on you, this position is not for you. On the other hand, if you don't master English or German, you're likely to slow down the rest of the team and you yourself can't communicate with minimal accuracy with your peers, so I don't think it's the best for either of both parts. Also, a person who prefers the formalities typical of the working world rather than having a closer and more human approach towards the rest of workmates, promoting honesty and transparency outside of hierarchies, wouldn’t be fitting either.

  • Would you recommend an internship in the same company to others?
    Florian Nielsson

    No doubt. To anyone who asked me I would not only say yes, but I would encourage them, because I think it is an experience that changes the way you see yourself as a professional and as a person and therefore nobody should miss it. Holi Natural is simply the right place to go if you are looking for a young, motivated and international team to apply your knowledge, feel that you have a real impact on the company, practice different languages and work independently. In addition, there is flexibility in the timetable on specific occasions and you are exposed to situations in which in a large and overcrowded company you would not be exposed. Another point to mention is the absence of unnecessary hierarchies that hinder the optimal flow of information or promote the feeling of inferiority. I think I'm going to miss so much being so comfortable in my workplace.

  • Can you imagine yourself returning to this company in the future?
    Florian Nielsson

    Of course. I wish circumstances would let me do that right now. For the moment I have to focus on finishing my career and therefore I am forced to leave Holi Me behind, however, for me a countdown begins until I return to the Factory to meet my coworkers. I am looking forward to seeing how this promising company has continued to evolve over the next few years and once again participate in its projects both as an internal and external collaborator. In conclusion, I would simply like to add that so far it has been the most satisfying professional experience I have had and that I very much doubt that I will have another one that will match it. I declare myself an unconditional fan of Holi Me and its corporate philosophy and as I mentioned before, I can't wait to become part of the team again.

  • What are your responsibilities?
    Jan Häse

    My tasks cover very different areas. On the one hand, I am in charge of managing the company's resources, as well as monitoring the market launch process of our products and the analysis of new market niches online. In addition to this, I actively participate in the generation of visual content for the marketing strategy of our products and the creation of a brand identity that impregnates all the information emanating from our brands with conceptual coherence. One positive thing about our company is that since we do not only have one line of products, we aren’t always working on the same thing, but changing the work-perspective instead because you are facing a project with very different characteristics. That keeps the work-routine from becoming monotonous and boring.

  • What do you think makes this company different from the rest?
    Jan Häse

    There are undoubtedly several aspects. First the dynamics of work. At Holi Natural we give all workers their own space and freedom of time to distribute their tasks according to their own way of working. In addition, we are committed to a close relationship so as not to create vertical hierarchies. Another thing to keep in mind is that we are a very motivated, young team with ambitious goals. Precisely because we are a group made up of people from very different cultures, our workspace creates an atmosphere of respect where creativity and critical cross-cultural thinking are encouraged.

  • What are potential candidates given?
    Jan Häse

    Our key principle is that no matter where you come from or where you go, everyone is welcome and valued equally. We take selection processes very seriously, because we know how valuable people's time is and we don't want to waste anyone's time. That is why from the beginning we clearly establish what we offer and what we need. Once we have chosen a new practitioner, he or she becomes a valued member of our team. However, during the first few days, an adaptation period is respected so that the worker can finish acclimatizing and get used to the work patterns.

  • Do you take care of the interns?
    Jan Häse

    All the workers are always at the disposal of the practitioners in case of any doubt or problem. Depending on what the practitioner needs, one person will be more helpful than another. We are a small and young company, which means that there are no vertical structures where it is difficult to talk to the managers because we are always sharing work spaces. No prior appointments or bureaucracy are necessary because we believe that this hinders the pace of conflict resolution and ends up damaging the company's overall performance. On the other hand, because of the head managers being young people, there is a much closer connection between practitioners and supervisors since there is no big age difference and they understand each other way better.

  • What is the work environment like?
    Jan Häse

    We believe that the work space is very important, because we spend a lot of time there and therefore it is worthy to make an effort to create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. So it's not uncommon to see even the bosses playing ping pong. That doesn't mean we're not rigorous and strict with deadlines, work commitments and high standards when it comes to work, but that over time we've developed that ability to stay focused for a period of time, and then take a short break to ensure we stay productive for the rest of the day. After all, we are all human, and we strive to remind each other of that. The idea is to create a kind of second family.

Here we neither believe in the old-school concept of ‘intern’ (a.k.a. Mr.Coffee-Maker), nor do we believe in the contemporary concept of ‘intern’ (a.k.a. Mr.SocialMedia-nonstop-replier). We are an international and young team and that is why we know what an intern wants: not to feel useless or waste time. Here your actions will have a direct impact. Due to the fact that we are in the midst of a growing phase, each and every one of the people who make up the Holi Natural family plays a very important role. Our workplace is the Factory. It is a co-working space (good for networking) that also offers access to ping pong tables, sofas, cafeteria, terrace, Wifi and up to 9 different flavors of tea (counted). From the first minute, we take care of integrating the new practitioners and understanding what they are looking for in order to reach an agreement in which both parties benefit.
