In order to support the Human Factors Engineering, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

Master Thesis within Human Factors Engineering (d/f/m)

The team Human Factors Engineering and Flight Deck (GE) is responsible for the development of

Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for different platforms such as fighter aircraft, transport aircraft, or ground control stations. The associated process covers requirements engineering, HMI design, specification, and assessments for validation and verification. These evaluations require a wide range of tools and methods for representative results.

Your tasks and responsibilities

Analysis of current state of the art with respect to complex input devices and assessment methodologies for novel and/or complex input devices

Analysis of the currently existing design ideas and derivation of an initial design for a prototype

Development of a functional prototype for functional and long-term ergonomic assessments

Set-up of an evaluation framework to test input device performance, e.g. by means of a computer game

Define the assessment set-up comprising research hypothesis, assessment procedures, subject definition, data generation and interpretation

Carry out an assessment with a respective set of users, analyze, and interpret gathered data

Documentation and discussion of research topics

Desired skills and qualifications

Enrolled full-time student (d/f/m) within Human Factors Engineering or a similar field of study

be fluent in English and German

have programming and prototyping skills

have first experience in electrical and mechanical engineering

be a good team player, have excellent communication skills and be able to work independently
