Within the scope of the Aviation Research Programme (Lufo4) a Hybrid bearing was investigated and numerous correlations concerning heat transfer and pressure drop were developed. The heat transfer model particularly for the outer ring of the bearing is partly that of a heat exchanger and partly that of a finned body. The MTU Air and oil System department is looking for someone to contribute in the development of a tool to solve iteratively the correlations so that best cooling efficiency is achieved and sensitivity analysis can be carried out. The Software is based on Microsofts’ Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)-Excel. It provides the engineer with an efficient Graphical User Interface to the test data, runs routines for data analysis and carries out comparisons to Thermal model and Secondary Flow predictions.
