Are you looking for an internship? Would you like to discover the work of an engineer? Then apply now! We look forward to you joining us as an intern (m/f) at the Surveillance & RECCE Systems department (35 hours/week, flexi-time).
Duration: 3-6 months
Todays and future electro-magnetic environment for radar Electronic Warfare (EW) contains a complex, very dense and high dynamic mixture of different signal types, both from military and civil sources with different signal strength and distributed over a wide frequency range. In electronic support, a receiver must monitor a wide frequency spectrum in which threatening emitters operate.
To maintain surveillance over the whole spectrum, a receiver has to sweep between frequency bands by utilizing a scanning (search) strategy. Search strategies shall provide a high Probability of Intercept (POI) of radar signals and are usually designed prior to the mission using an approximate knowledge of possible radar illumination patterns and also considering the characteristics of the receiver.
The exciting task of the internship consists of the development of a Graphical User Interface (GUI) in Matlab that visualizes the results of various search strategies for given radar emitter and receiver parameters. Important key values such as POI, required well time and expected worst case reaction time shall be shown by the tool.
- Enrolled student within Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar field of study
- good background knowledge of radar signal processing
- excellent knowledge of Matlab
- good language skills in English or German
You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently.
